Parents and Swimmers,

In addition to our regular meets, some swimmers choose to participate in additional, invitational meets.  The first invitational meet is Summer Thunder, sponsored by Premier Aquatics (PACK).  The meet will be held on Sunday June 10 and Monday June 11 at Klein Oak High School.  The pool is indoors and air-conditioned set-up is available in the Commons area. 

All 10 and under events are held on Sunday.  11-18 year-olds' events are on Monday evening except for 100 free and 100 IM which are scheduled for the end of the meet on Sunday.

Talk to the coaches this week if you want more information.  In order to swim, a swimmer must sign up with the coaches and submit $5.00 for each event.   The deadline for signing-up is Saturday, June 2 at the Gleannloch Farms meet.  You must commit to swimming and submit your payment.  You will not be signed-up unless you have paid.  Checks to Cypresswood Sharks are accepted.

All the invitational meets we participate in have qualifying times.  The link to Summer Thunder times and  information is  http://www.teamunify.com/szgspack/UserFiles/File/2012%20Summer%20Thunder%20Meet%20Announcement.pdf .   At this meet, there are qualifying times for all swimmers 12 and under.  13 and over do not have qualifying times.  However, all swimmers must have times to enter an event.  Times can come from a time trial or a sanctioned meet.  There is a bonus rule for 12 and unders.  If the swimmer qualifies for 3 events, he/she may enter all events even those that do not meet qualifiying times.

Please let the coaches know if you would like to enter a relay.  We will enter relays if we have enough swimmers.  Relay fees are paid by the team.

These invitional meets are great opportunities for swimmers who want more.   In the past, many of our swimmers have improved their times due to the indoor pools and indoor set-up, less turbulant water, and the meets' competitive nature. 

Please talk to the coaches for more information and to sign-up.  I have done this in the past but will be out of town this weekend.  Help the coaches out by contacting them as soon as possible.
