    Meet Status

Cypresswood Sharks May 11th Meet Status Update

Depending on which weather site you look at, we are looking at rain and thunderstorms tomorrow and the possibility of localized flooding. Our Team Rep, Amber Shah, has been in daily communication with the Team Rep from Lakes on Eldridge and both teams are closely monitoring the weather.

At this time, NO OFFICIAL DECISION HAS BEEN MADE regarding our meet on Saturday. We may not know the status of our meet until early Saturday morning.

If you have not already done so, please sign up for our team Remind service by texting @bd396g4 to 81010. This will be the official communication tool used to communicate the status of our meet on Saturday.

Please be advised that you could possibly be receiving an update very late Friday night or extremely early Saturday morning. We make it a point not to send messages too late at night or before 5:45am but we must make an exception this time. If you do not receive a message, the meet is still on as scheduled.

Both teams are hoping that Mother Nature cooperates, and we will be able to proceed with the meet as scheduled and get through event 60 at the least. According to our NWAL Rule Book, which is our governing document, if we can swim and get through event 60, the meet is considered complete and we do not have to do anything else in the way of a make-up. Please be prepared for a very long day on Saturday. If the meet starts later in the morning, it may not end until mid or late afternoon. Please drink lots of water.

If Saturday’s meet is postponed, we have to come up with a date that works for both teams and reschedule. The meet has to be rescheduled prior to our next scheduled meet of May 18th. Therefore, the only date possible would be on Sunday, May 12th.

In addition to families that attend church, this Sunday is Mother’s Day. Monday – Friday next week is not an option because the kids have school, end of year banquets, STAAR testing etc. and it would be a very difficult commute for the other team. We realize that Sunday is not an ideal day for either team but we wanted to let you know that it could be a very real possibility.

We just want to let everyone know that we are closely monitoring the weather. If a delay or postponement is necessary, we will make decisions that are best for the safety of our swimmers and considerate of family, work and school commitments. Last Saturday was supposed to be a wash out and it ended up being a beautiful day.

    Thank you for your patience,

    Your Cypresswood Sharks Board
